Practice Manager of Educational Speech Pathology and Therapy Services. Sue is a qualified Speech Pathologist with over 20 years experience working with students and in both primary and secondary school settings. Sue has extensive experience in schools across Sydney, rural NSW and Darwin. She has been a clinical educator and honorary staff member of the Discipline of Speech Pathology, University of Sydney since 1989, regularly lecturing in both undergraduate and post graduate speech pathology and teacher education
BACKGROUND INFORMATION Educational Speech Pathology & Therapy Services was established in 1987. It is a private business, consisting of 13 Speech Pathologists and 3 Occupational Therapists. ESP&TS currently services up to 40 schools in the Sydney area.
Educational Speech Pathology & Therapy Services provides school based, school funded programs which occur within the classroom, with individuals or in groups. This form of service delivery facilitates an active and supported learning environment for students, which encourages generalisation of skills because it occurs within the learning context.
The school- based intervention allows modelling for and collaboration with teachers resulting in sustainable change in management of students with language based needs when programs are supported by and integrated in teaching practice. Regular parent involvement and feedback encouraged.
Educational Speech Pathology and Therapy programs are accountable and reflect current theoretical knowledge. School based clinical education practicum for Speech Pathology students may also be available to your school.
Educational Speech Pathology also operates throughout Sydney and provides training and development programs In rural
areas.
